According to the Identity Theft Resource Center’s 2016 , 2016 has seen more than 850 data breaches affecting nearly 30 million records as of Nov. 8. Not only are data breaches becoming more frequent, but they are also becoming more expensive and progressively dangerous. Many of these harmful cyberattacks were successful due to the outdated legacy systems many enterprises still use. The frequency of these attacks illustrates how necessary it is for IT decision-makers to not only be aware of this issue, but understand how to address it in order to protect themselves and their customers from a harmful breach. It is crucial to modernize legacy systems to be able to protect customers as best as possible.
